Derryloran Parish - Autumn 2016, Christmas and New Year
Rev Canon RJN Porteus 867 62261
Canon WJA Dawson 867 37151

The past few months featured a busy round of activities in the parish – among them being the Civic Reception in Killymoon Castle to mark the Centenary of our Mothers’ Union, hosted by Mr Trevor Wilson. It was a memorable evening for the ladies, many of whom had never been inside the Castle. We marked Remembrancetide and the Centenary of the Royal College of Nursing with a special service attended by members. The Archbishop’s Roadshow came to town once more in November and we thank him for those 2 challenging evenings!
As we enter the holy season of Christmas we have so much to look forward to in the Parish over that period. Catullus, the Roman poet described the pagan festival Saturnalia as “the best of times”... How much more is the Festival of Christmas “the best of times” for our age and generation!
Don’t miss out on the variety of events in our Christmas programme..... Do check us out on Facebook!

“CHARIS CAROLS”: On Sunday 13th at 7pm we present a special Christmas Miscellany with scripture, poetry and music by the Primary School choirs in Cookstown. The offering will be in aid of Charis Cancer Care Centre at Lough Fea in appreciation of their ongoing care for the Community. The service is open to all and sundry! Do come along!
SUNDAY SCHOOL CHRISTMAS PARTY: This year the Party will be on Friday 16th at 7pm.

By now our Parish organisations have returned to their usual format and we look forward to a new season! We express our gratitude to Felicity Bourns for her dedicated leadership in that role over the past number of years and as a teacher as she now stands down.

BUS PASS EXPLORERS: Our popular group of a certain age group has enjoyed days away courtesy of Translink – in Belfast, Bangor, Dun Laoghaire, Londonderry – on a monthly voyage of discovery of some of our finest tourist attractions.
